Awesome digital wall installation at Apple’s WDDC ’09 Conference. Live feed showing the activity of 20,000 popular apps in the app store. Each time an app is downloaded from the app store, it’s icon lights up on the wall. (There was a 5 min delay between store + wall)
What they used:
20 synchronized 30-inch Apple cinema HD displays.
20 Mac Pro towers running Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
Programmed in Quartz Composer using new OpenCL APIs.
*UPDATE: Apple Hyperwall gets iSynthed by developers Andres Douglas and Greg Pascale. They took 273 photos of the App Wall and stitched them together using Photosynth.
