Gatsby – Social Stranger Networking

Gatsby is a new service that works on top of Foursquare to introduce people who have similar interests and are checked in near each other.
Foursquare users add Gatsby as a friend (who looks like a younger Jeeves from Ask.com), and the connections are made based on immediate location and interests that the user self-proclaims during the sign up on Gatsby (eg. dogs, beer, shopping).
It does seem like there is a gap here that could be better filled – maybe by connecting people who regularly check in to several of the same locations AND have similar interests.
Who knows if this will take off – meeting a stranger based on a single common interest might be a little odd, but it’d be interesting to make connections with people in the same location.
