Ebay uses it’s data to visualize online transactions made on their site on Black Friday in this interactive map. Neat!

There’s a great article in TechCrunch today that talks about how location has the power to become the bridge between social networking and social interaction in the real world. The post calls out an interesting application called Socialgreat that mines the data of people ‘checking-in’ to different locations on twitter, foursquare, brightkite, graffitiGeo and tells you which spots are most popular by hour, day, week or year.
A necessary and good ‘next’ step towards making social networking even more ‘social’.

Five students from Tsinghua University and the National University of Singapore have created Photosketch, an exciting new program that translates simple sketches into seamless photomontages created from images pulled from the web.
Photosketch users draw a bare bones sketch and layout of the image they’d like to create, labeling each item with a basic i.d. Photosketch then searches the web for matching photos and then uses a blending algorithm to figure out which images would work best for the process. The result is a startling photo image based on the original layout. (From: Creativity)
