An installation of the new Toyota Auris with Hybrid Synergy Drive uses projection mapping to bring to life the technology within the Auris itself. Glue Isobar used seven projectors to project a CG version of the car onto the real car, allowing observers to walk around the car and experience the effect.

This a great showcase of what is possible with Flash and JavaScript when designers push themselves to the limits.

Rethinking an iPhone App for the iPad

Translating a web site experience into an iPhone app requires a complete rethinking of the architecture and redesigning of user interfaces so they work within a tiny screen and mobile context.   Introduce the iPad device into the mix with its larger size and yet to be defined usage patterns and you suddenly realize that you don’t need to translate what you’ve done on the iPhone app — you need to start the process all over again.

Kayak wrote about the challenges of taking their existing iPhone app and redesigning it for the iPad.

Sync/Lost is an interactive installation that explores the history of electronic music. ‘From a complex timeline, rhythms and sub-rhythms merge to create new sounds.’ Users are able to see how different music styles are interconnected by interacting with different visual and audio affects through the interface.

The installation was developed in ‘Processing’ by 3bits labs.

Fun iphone APP from lego.

Love APP’s like this. Not trying to be clever, simple, free, well crafted, nice interface & sounds – impress your granny etc. Top of the Pops for only a few weeks but spread like wildfire! I wonder what the ROI exsposure is worth?

Yipit is a new service that analyzes your check-ins on Foursquare (i.e places that you go to in the ‘physical’ world) to send you nearby deals via your digital device – i.e mobile phone. I don’t use Foursquare myself but I am using Gowalla (because I like the interface more) and would love to have something similar to try out.
